Top Ways to Make Money in a Hurry

Late on Rent?  Need Money for Gas?

Here are a couple practical ways to earn some money to get you through the week.

1.  Sell some stuff.  Let’s face it, many of us have too much stuff anyway.  It may be time to let go of some items we’ve stored up.   To get the best value, try selling online first.

You could sell on Amazon.com Marketplace.  Simply go To Amazon.com, search their catalog for an item you want to sell.  For instance, that collectible DVD you never watch.  Find it on Amazon.com, click on the sell yours button.    Set a price & condition and list it.

(Amazon.com charges a 1.00 and a 15% fee when your item sells)  There are no listing fees on Amazon.com Marketplace.  I have sold many items through them such as video games, CD’s, DVD’s and other odds and ends.

Craigs List

By now, most everyone has used or viewed craiglist.  It is a free service for selling your items, but can be a dangerous place.   Never accept Checks, or money orders.  Only accept Cash for items you sell.  If you sell an item, meet in a public place to exchange goods for your safety.  Do not give out your home address.

eBay

Allows you to sell your items but there is a massive amount of competition and their fees can get pretty steep.  They are still a valuable resource to unload some of your extra items.  Also check out their sister site half.com.

If none of those options work for you, then do a yard sale.  See if you can get your neighbors involved.  It’s more fun that way.

Don’t have anything to sell?

Try babysitting, walking dogs, car washing or doing yard work.   Heck, come over to my house.  I have some weeds that need to be pulled.

The trick here is to put out some flyer’s in your neighborhood, let your friends and family know that you are going through a rough time and need some extra cash.

Don’t be prideful as it only hurts you.  There is no shame in asking for help when you exchange a valuable service.

Get a Part Time Job

Even in tough economic times there are still part time jobs.   You just have to be willing to put out some resumes or fill out some applications.

If you need money today, try a company like Labor Ready (yes, I have done Labor Ready) it may not be fun or pleasant and there is no guarantee you will be hired but it is worth a shot.   The trick with labor ready is to get their early in the morning and make sure they know all of your skills.  If you can type 50 WPM, let them know!

Apply at your Local Grocery Store or Convenience store.  There are bound to be openings at a location near you.  It may not be your dream job, but it can be a temporary fix for your financial troubles.

Find a Temp Agency.. yeah they make money from your hard work, but who cares.  If they can find a job for you, then it is worth your time.  I got a job at Amazon.com because of a temp agency!

Wishing you all the best!  I’ve been through plenty of hard times so I can certainly relate to the worry, and stress of not being able to provide for yourself or family.  Just be willing to take any job and tell yourself it is only temporary.
